Seriously, if you haven't taken the time to read any of Karen Marie Moning's work, you have been cheating yourself!  Karen is an AMAZING author!  The Fever series is a little bit heavier then her Highland Warrior books, but just as entertaining if not more so. 

 

I need to find out what happens next, and I haven't been able to say that about a book in a long time!!!

"When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?"

Very good question...and I am providing a very good answer... :-)

I used to torture myself by finishing EVERY last book I laid my hands on.  I just can't do it anymore! 

I'm mainly a library reader, and I request about 15 books at a time.  If I can't get into a book, it just goes back...that's the way it is!!

I will usually read up to about page 50, then randomly skip ahead to pages to see if anything interesing is going on (yes sometimes the lovin' scenes) and if the book STILL has no enjoyable plot...on to the next one!

People who live in Glass Houses...

Okay, tryyyyyying to follow the road of reading as I experienced it in the past in this blog.  Had to take a pause from that to review Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires, Book 1).

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Rachel Caine for giving me a book that doesn't follow the same girl meets vampire, girl falls in love, or even...secretive handsome boy IS secretly a vampire.

Not quite done with this one yet (thanks to my BFF for buying this for me) and can't put it down!!!  Requested the rest at the library and can't WAIT to get caught up on her writings!!

After Laurell, there was Charlaine...

Ohhhhh, Ms. Harris.  How could you DO this to me?

After reading Sookie Stackhouse's first 8 books, I couldn't claim to be anything other than a big huge fan...not only of the Southern Vampire series, but also of Eric...hot hot hot!  I loved the world the books weaved, the fantasy, suspense and action...and was DYING for the release of True Blood on HBO...

Did HBO go to Charlaine's head?  Because her work post From Dead to Worse has been currently sliding into the gutter.  I loved the relationships and the characters...but haven't even been able to CARE about the books since 2008!

I was a SERIOUS fangbanger...and now...I don't even mind waiting for the library copies!

Laurell...I love you/I hate you...

Do you ever wonder why you need to show ID to buy liquor, cigarettes, movies and games...but not books? 

The one that started it all...

I guess I pondered that myself when I was fourteen and had just discovered...Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter).  I blushed simply picking up this title and almost didn't have the nerve to bring it to the cashier.  I was with my Dad at the time...he had already know I was a lost cause when it came to reading anything and everything, and upon his asking what book I had to selected, I said..."oh, just a book".  I could not find the courage to say "pleasures" in front of my father.  Yikes!

Up until recently, I had stuck with Laurell K Hamilton, reading whatever book of hers I could get my impressionable mind on.  That was ALOT of books, if you don't believe me, Search Amazon.com for Laurell K Hamilton.


The Laughing Corpse, Circus of the Damned, The Lunatic Cafe and The Killing Dance were just a few of Ms. Hamilton's books that I read in a matter of days.  I couldn't get enough of Anita and friends.  I stayed loyal to the series until Obsidian Butterfly. Things just started to get a little too weird for me after that.  I secretly still put Ms. Hamilton's book on the hold shelf at the library for myself, but can't bring myself to pay almost $30 per hardcover for three hundred pages of orgy and no crime solving.

After the heartbreak of being disappointed by my all time favorite author...I decided to do a little research and find myself a new series...

Any thought on the Anita Blake series?  Please, feel free to post.  I'd love to hear your opinions.

From Night World to Everworld...

Continuing on in my journey of fictional discovery, I would come across the Search for Senna (Everworld #1).  I was quickly swept into this story of mythical creatures and a whole new God system.  Interestingly enough, each book takes the characters to a different place in Everworld and is narrarated by a different main character.  Quite an impressive series that really takes you into the fantasy writing of the author and enthrals you.  Here's a little bit about the book from Publishers Weekly...

An AMAZING series, and if you liked the first, I guarantee, you will not be able to stop yourself from wondering what comes next.  Twelve books later, you will leave satisfied and imagining more...

Hello, and welcome back fellow readers.  

I begun my blog by sharing with you the first book that began my obsession with all things paranormal, I find it only fitting that I continue my journey somewhat chronologically.

Although I do not have the memory or time to pay each and everyone one of the books I've read to this point homage, I will certainly try my best in sharing the ones who shaped my journey...

I may have had a problem with "borrowing" books and not returning them as you may have guessed from my last blog.  Well....I fell into the Night World hard after I stumbled across Secret Vampire (Night World). 

A vampire book starring a Redhead?  I'm in! 

The dark story of Poppy and James' and their forbidden love was a book I will NEVER forget.  Very romantic story that as a young adult, had me searching for true love before I had even kissed a boy.  Needless to say, I took out every possible book I could get my hands on by L. J. Smith.  The Forbidden Game: The Hunter; The Chase; The Kill, had me wanting to name my first child Julian, The Secret Circle: The Initiation and The Captive Part I had me trying to convince my parents to move to New Salem, Massachusetts and Dark Visions: The Strange Power; The Possessed; The Passion had me CONVINCED I was psychic. 

These are the first books that started my collection, which didn't please my father very much when he had to pay the library an exorbitant amount so that I could take out books again.  I tried to explain to him that I loved them so much, I couldn't return them.  I don't think he really understood that one...

I was distraught when the series ended with Witchlight (Night World), leaving me wanting a conclusion desperately. 

Now, some 15 or so years later, with the ever growing popularity of Vampires, Shifters and Witches (oh my!), L.J. Smith has re-released some of her greats and is working on some different stories. 

I suppose the huge success of The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season might have had SOMETHING to do with that...

Either way, I have waited patiently for an ending to this series, and even though I may have "outgrown" these books, I'm a firm believer that you are NEVER too old for the YA genre.

Yay!  A blog of my very own!  Welcome, welcome, welcome! 

I have a passion for books, but a very select genre I enjoy divulging in.  That would be, for the most part, paranormal romance.  I'm always looking to be recommended a new book, but have taken it into my own hands, hoping to hear from other fans of the genre. 

The book that started it all...Look For Me By Moonlight

I remember borrowing this from a friend in the 6th grade...the book had been read over and over, I could tell by the condition of the cover...and the hearts with "Vincent" scrawled on the inside cover...

I had never honestly had any interest in reading in a recreational way, but decided to give it a try after scanning the back cover. 

This book seduced me into the world of paranormal romance, and at the same time, creeped me out.  This handsome man, this younger girl...the late night meetings...

My friend (can't remember her name) never got her book back from me.  Sorry.  I read it at least twice a week for about a month, slipping into the fantasy of this new, forbidden world where vampires existed. 

 My thirst (some pun intended) for this genre ran rampant.  I quickly became a usual at the local library trying to get my hands on anything from Annette Curtis Klause such as The Silver Kiss and Blood and Chocolate, and Amelia Atwater Rhodes, author of In the Forests of the Night (Den of Shadows).  Quickly...I became an addict to paranormal series books.

Now, over a decade later, I still can't help but surf Amazon endlessly looking for new and enthralling authors who can give me my fix. 

In this blog, I hope to give you many recommendations to books I have immensely enjoyed over the years as well as warn you away from the ones that just didn't quite tickle my fancy.  I hope to find many new authors to get excited about, and in turn, introduce people to this genre or talk shop with those who have grown up with it as I have.
