Claimed by a Demon King

Well, I did it again.  I started a series an now I'm stuck to it.

Pleasant surprise, I liked this one better than the first!

Thorne did it for me, for sure.  Sable - not so much.  She kind of annoyed me.  A ton.

Really good action scenes, pretty hot naughty scenes - I just feel really bad for Bleu and feel like Sable totally led him on.

Ah well, now I'm trying to binge read all of Felicity Heaton's stuff.  On to Her Dark Angel.

Kissed by a Dark Prince - Felicity Heaton

Kissed by a Dark Prince - Felicity Heaton

Help.  Somebody, help.

I can't stop myself from buying books on my Kindle and searching for my next big, addictive series.

Now, I must admit, this has been one of my better choices in a while.

It seemed to follow the same kind of general direction of the Immortals After Dark series, and since those are one of my favorites, it only makes sense that I would enjoy these.

I did really enjoy it, I just didn't think it was ground breaking or earth shattering for me.

On to the next one...

The Undead Pool

The Undead Pool

OMG, I needed to write this review on the heels of news that the LAST Hollows Book will be releasing in September of this year.

Kim Harrison, why are you doing this to me?  I admit, I was reluctant to start the Rachel Morgan series.  I was really into super sexy paranormal reads and I actually started this book and put it aside for a brainless, steamy romance.  Good at the time, but in the end, I was still lacking so I picked up Dead Witch Walking and couldn't put the darn thing down until I finished.  Maybe it hooked me a little more because I love a redheaded heroine, or maybe it really got me because it was something different.  Whatever it was, it had me and I couldn't stop until I had more.

I purchased every released book in the Hollows series and read through them so fast my fingers were covered in paper cuts.  I was researching terms like 'Magnetic Chalk' and staying up late - I even called into work on a Tuesday because I didn't go to bed, only realizing I was still reading Rachel's tale when my alarm went off in the morning.

The Undead Pool was fantastic, but a little bit sad.  You can see that Kim Harrison is moving towards the end.  Things are getting tied up, and there is a real finality in this book.

I brought my Kindle to work the day of release, and don't think I got anything done.  I didn't even have any shame when my boss walked over and caught me deep in reading...I may have ignored her for a good 30 seconds.  In my defense, I may have been on Chapter 22.

All in all, another phenomenal book by Kim Harrison.  I'm thrilled I only have to wait until September for the next edition, but devastated it's the last one!!!!

The King - JR Ward

So, I've been experiencing a real slump when it comes to reading and reviewing books on here.  I have been waiting and waiting for certain books to release, and unfortunately, with all the waiting, has come so much disappointment.

Ah, here we go.  Let me tell you my thoughts on The King by JR Ward.  Ok, BDB - I like them, they are a nice read, but they just don't grab me like they used to.  There are so many sub stories going on I feel like I can't even keep track of anything anymore.  I find myself skipping entire chapters because I just want to follow the main story.

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the world weaving going on, and the sheer amount of imagination that has gone into these books to create an in depth, rich, character filled world...however, it just sort of has been losing me.

Maybe this is a personal problem - maybe I'm in a deep depression because Kim Harrison is releasing her last book this year and I just find that nothing can really compare to her writing for me...

I loved Beth and Wrath in the beginning, and by beginning, I mean Dark Lover.  This whole book just seemed so predictable to me.  I don't want to give away anything, but even in the first few chapters, I had the ending all figured out.  I know this isn't a mystery novel, but come on, it's pretty clear where we are headed here with out main characters.

Was it just me?  Ugh, on to the next one...
